Emily and Jake chose East Mersea Hall for their wedding. Imagine a stunning Elizabethan manor house dating back to the 16th century surrounded by a thousand year old moat sitting next to a stunning medieval church. It really is a stunning and unique setting for a wedding.
Now having a wedding set on an island was a good idea for Emily, Jake and their guests as it ensured there were no neighbours to complain about the noise! I can honestly say their wedding was the loudest and most fun wedding I have ever shot.
I arrived early to take shots of Emily getting ready. I was immediately blown away by her beautiful Cosmobella wedding dress and the exquisite bridesmaids’ dresses by Adrianna Papell. I also have to mention the beautiful hand-made hangers that they were hanging on which had been made by Emily and her mum (humour me please, I’m a self-confessed wedding geek who absolutely loves all these little details!)
Now I must mention Jake’s attire. I love it when a groom buys rather than hires a suit for their wedding day and Jake’s was fitted to perfection by tailor Paulo from Hacketts in London. How lovely it is for him to always have the suit he was married in. The men’s co-ordinating ties and pocket squares were hired from Reiss.
The pretty bouquets and button-holes were provided by Jardiniere florist. However, centrepieces were done by the brides mum (Emily’s talented mum, again!)
After the ceremony Emily, Jake and their guests enjoyed oysters and champagne before sitting down to a sumptuous wedding breakfast. Then it was onto the speeches. The best man speech was particularly memorable as the best man, who is a magician, performed a magic trick and managed to get all the guests singing ‘the best man song’
The amazing wedding cake was made by one of Emily’s best friends who has a successful cake business called Delicious Delights. (I wish I had a friend who could make cakes like that!)
After the speeches it was onto the serious partying, though to be honest, this wedding had the feel of a party all day! This is what Emily had to say.
‘We had a very fun and relaxed wedding and we loved that you fitted in with everyone and we got on so well and had so many laughs. We loved that you got to know us as a couple and knew exactly what we would want for our memories. We thought your work was incredible and your service exceptional. You thought of everything!’
