Lauren and Ben enjoyed glorious weather for their beautiful wedding. Lauren got ready at her parents’ house in Braintree. A fitting place as it was there that she first met Ben, who when employed to decorate her parents’ house, plucked up the courage to cheekily as Lauren out on his last day of work there! Thankfully she said yes, which some time later led to me photographing Lauren getting ready in her beautiful wedding dress from Bellisima Weddings (a favourite of mine as it is where I got my wedding dress). This was set off perfectly with a full length veil that complimented the dress and beautiful framed her face. I particularly liked Lauren’s flowers that were provided by Cherubs Florist in Great Waltham. The always attentive bridesmaids looked elegant in peach.
The ceremony was held at St Mary’s and St Leonard’s Church in Broomfield. A historically rich village with pretty countryside views that can be enjoyed from the church grounds. The church, an ancient historic building, boasts a stunning round tower, which makes it a particularly pretty setting for a wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony it was on to Great Lodge for the wedding reception. Upon seeing the venue I instantly learned that I love photographing weddings at Great Lodge. The owner Rebecca made everybody feel so welcome. The venue is simply stunning, the newly refurbished Grade 1 listed Anne of Cleves Barn is so named as it was owned by Anne of Cleves following the annulment of her marriages to King Henry VIII. The barn was built during her ownership, to store hay for the deer. Not only do the scale and construction indicate a royal building, but it is also thought to be the work of continental craftsmen. The brick and tile building is Grade 1 listed as the width and construction of the roof is thought to be unique not only in Essex but also in England! Great Lodge Weddings are a truly unique experience.
Outside the barn is a beautifully walled garden and grounds leading to a vineyard, a lake and a new woodland with quaint farm equipment casually dotted around the grounds. This setting, coupled with the glorious sunshine, gave me the opportunity to take some amazing shots. I really was blown away by the beauty of this amazing new wedding venue.
Guests were able to roam freely through the grounds and all found shade at the end of the garden, an area that conveniently housed a bar area to keep everybody happy, cool and refreshed.
Catering was provided by the always impressive and award winning Lime Berry caterers. A bespoke catering service who delivered elegant and sumptuous food for Lauren, Ben and their guests.
A lovely couple, a pretty church ceremony, a truly stunning reception and all with glorious weather. The perfect wedding! Congratulations to Lauren and Ben for getting married and providing such a memorable day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.
