Wedding Photography at The Railway Barn
I’m so excited to share Victoria and Ricky’s wedding photography at Railway Barn. This rustic barn venue at Newhall vineyard in the Essex village of Purleigh is one of England’s oldest vineyards. It makes for a fantastic wedding venue.
It was great catching up with Victoria and Ricky again. This easy going fun couple have asked me to photograph their family on several occasions. It’s always lovely when I get to work with people again as it feels like meeting up with old friends.
Victoria’s Stella York Dress
Victoria looked amazing in her Stella York dress that had the most beautiful full skirt giving her a real fairy tale bride look. And the flower girls looked divine. I also have to mention the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets. These were beautiful creations of wedding decorators Starry Eyed weddings.
Victoria and Ricky’s wedding ceremony was held at the nearby All Saints Church, a pretty Grade I listed 14th century church with a rich history. The church sits in the Essex village of Purleigh. After a beautiful ceremony there was a chance for some great relaxed photographs before moving onto the reception, just a few metres away at The Railway Barn.
The Reception at The Railway Barn
The Railway Barn was a great choice of wedding venue for ‘self confessed perfectionists’ Victoria and Ricky. It is a blank canvas allowing Bride and Grooms to stamp their own style and personalities into their wedding day. With the help of Hayley Jayne Wedding Planner and Starry Eyed weddings, nothing was left to chance. I especially loved the table place settings, cutlery and long table designs using a leaf for table names. Such fresh innovative ideas that worked perfectly with the rustic country feel of Victoria and Ricky’s wedding. It looked like something out of a wedding magazine.
Another reason why I love shooting wedding photography at The Railway Barn is the light. In summer the sun shining down on row after row of vines with a view of All Saints Church in the background makes a beautiful and romantic backdrop in all of my images.
Family Friendly Wedding
As a parent myself I always love seeing how couples approach family friendly weddings. Victoria and Ricky’s wedding was a master class in getting it right. There were fun fairground style games including hook the duck , splat the rat and a coconut shy, (though these were enjoyed by the not so young guests just as much!) There was also a children’s entertainment tipi hired from event stylists ‘Fable and Moon’. This gave children a space to play and get creative during the meal. This meant that parents and grandparents could really relax and enjoy the wedding. Everybody was a winner!
Victoria and Ricky also hired a live band which just added to the happy and relaxed vibe of their wedding day. Now I don’t know who’s idea the gin lounge, (complete with vintage sofa), was, but my god what a good one! A popular and wonderfully quirky addition to the day.
A gorgeous rustic, family-friendly vintage country summer wedding full of love and laughter. I just loved shooting Victoria and Ricky’s summer Railway Barn wedding. Shooting wedding photography at Railway Barn and getting to work with amazing couples like Victoria and Ricky are what being a wedding photographer is all about. Congratulations you guys and thanks for having me there!
